01Overview

Designed for portability: a completely welded steel structure with pre-wired, pre-installed load cells and junction boxes. Self-contained mounting pads mean no grouting of the load cell base plate is required, and the unit can be relocated to another site within hours.

02How it works

Self-contained mounting pads instead of a poured foundation

A conventional weighbridge relies on a foundation into which the load cell base plates are grouted, permanently fixing the deck's support points. A foundation-less design instead uses self-contained mounting pads engineered to distribute the deck's load into whatever hard, level ground it's placed on, without requiring wet concrete to cure and bond the load cell mounts in place — that's the single change that makes the rest of the portability possible.

Everything pre-wired before it leaves the factory

Because the deck needs to be usable again within hours of arriving at a new site, the load cells, summing junction boxes, and interconnecting cable looms are all fitted and tested at the factory rather than wired up on site — site work is limited to placing the modules, connecting pre-terminated cables, and running through calibration checks.

Self-aligning mounts absorb ground irregularity

Since the deck isn't grouted rigidly to a prepared foundation, its mounting assembly is designed to self-check and self-align to small variations in the ground surface beneath each support point, so minor unevenness in the hardstanding doesn't translate into an uneven load share across the load cells.

03Manufacturing & build quality

The structure is built as a completely welded steel frame in the factory, to the same structural standards as a fixed weighbridge, but with its load cell mounting pads engineered as free-standing assemblies rather than plates meant for grouting. Load cells, summing junction boxes, and cable runs are installed and functionally tested on the shop floor as one complete system, so what ships to site is a fully wired unit rather than loose components to be assembled and terminated in the field. Bolted access covers are fitted top and side for component access without needing to lift deck sections. Before dispatch, the whole assembly is set up on a flat surface and load-tested to confirm calibration and load-cell balance, since that's the last point at which any adjustment can be made under controlled shop conditions rather than out on a working site.

Quarries, construction projects, and seasonal operations often need accurate weighing for a defined period without justifying permanent civil investment — a foundation-less bridge gives them that without a foundation that will sit unused once the project ends.

Where a weighing point might move, close, or need relocating as operations shift, sinking capital into a permanent foundation is hard to justify — the foundation-less design removes that decision entirely.

What ground preparation is actually needed?

The surface needs to be hard, level, and load-bearing — typically compacted gravel or an existing concrete or asphalt pad — but no excavation, formwork, or concrete pour is required the way a fixed foundation demands.

How long does relocation really take?

Once the new site's ground is prepared, moving and re-commissioning the bridge is typically a matter of hours rather than the days-to-weeks a fixed installation's foundation work would take.

Is accuracy affected compared to a fixed installation?

The self-aligning mount design is specifically engineered to compensate for minor ground variation between sites, so a well-prepared hardstanding gives comparable accuracy to a grouted foundation — the key variable is making sure the ground itself is genuinely level and stable.

What capacity range is available?

Foundation-less designs are offered across a similar capacity range to fixed weighbridges — portability is a structural and mounting design choice, not a capacity limitation.

Does it need much on-site electrical work?

Since load cells and junction boxes are pre-wired at the factory, site electrical work is largely limited to power supply for the indicator and connecting the pre-terminated cable looms — there's no field wiring of the load cells themselves.
